Georgene Messina

Our beautiful Mom, Georgene Messina went to be with God peacefully on September 11th 2023. Georgene was born in Newark, New Jersey December 21, 1947 to mother Constance Maisto Rogers (Dean/Diem) and father George Slutter. She grew up in Keansburg, Morganville and Middletown and attended Middletown High School class of 1966. In 1966 she married Louis John Franklin right after high school and had her first daughter, Tina Franklin (now Frye). She ran off to California to be with Louie (who was a drummer) and dance with the bands. She was an amazing dancer! Remarried years later to Michael Angelo Messina, she had three more children, Angelo Michael Messina, Joseph Michael Messina and Laura Ann Messina, as well as two stepchildren she cared for, Tina Messina and Michael Angelo Messina, Jr. Then cherished being a homemaker and the best Mom. She loved being a beautician and was a neighborhood hairdresser while living in Old Bridge, NJ and made so many friends. Later in life Georgie became a Realtor with Coldwell Banker in California, achieving her Broker's license. She moved back to California then Florida to enjoy the sunshine, her children and grandchildren. In 2015, she returned to Middletown New Jersey to live with her daughter, Tina Frye and son-in-law, Richard Frye and be around her extensive family. Here she loved walking on the beach collecting shells and always feeding the birds. You could also often find her hanging by the pool with her first sister-in-law, Ann Franklin, who was like a sister to her. Her friends called her Georgie girl. Everyone says when she walks in a room she lights it up. Always wanting to make people laugh and smile, she was a true bright soul. Music and dancing were her passion and watch out if you were near the dance floor while she was, you'd be dancing with her for sure. She is pre-deceased by her two sisters, Ann Merlino and Carol Ellison. She is survived by her four children Tina Frye, Angelo Messina, Joey Messina and Laura Messina, along with eight beautiful grandchildren and our newest addition her first great-grandchild, Delilah. A Funeral Mass will be held 9:30 a.m. on Saturday September 30th at St. Catherine's Church, 110 Bray Avenue in North Middletown.
