Joan Meyer

Keansburg - Joan Ann Meyer, formerly of Hoboken and West Keansburg passed away Sunday March 14th. Joan celebrated her 90th birthday on December 28th. Joan was born in Hoboken NJ, where she met and married her lifetime love William Meyer in 1951. They established a loving household in West Keansburg NJ until their retirement. The Meyer home 'at the shore' became a frequent visiting spot for many family members living in North Jersey. Family and friends always enjoyed the outgoing hospitality offered by Joan and William. Joan worked at K-Mart in Hazlet as a merchandising manager for many years until her retirement. Upon their retirement, Joan and William moved to McGrath Towers in Keansburg where they became involved in several organizations supporting St. Ann's Church in Keansburg. Joan is predeceased by her husband William S. Meyer (d.2002). Joan was very active in many organizations and groups including St. Ann's Alter Rosary, St. Ann's Choir, St Ann's Glory and Praise Prayer Group, Eucharistic Ministers, Bayshore Cursillo, Bayshore Mealtrays, Our Lady Rosary Makers, Lawrence Harbor Columbiettes, Home Bible Study Group, Bayshore Senior Center, and many informal groups facilitating the Rosary, St. Ann's church , and helping others. Joan enjoyed her work in organizations and groups and loved spending time with her family and friends. Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Howie and Kathy Meyer of Atlantic Highlands and Paul and April Meyer of Hazlet, her grandchildren Kristin Coyle, husband Patrick, and Chris Meyer, wife Coleen, and great-grandchildren Jack Coyle, Emma Coyle, and Kiera Meyer. Friends and relatives may call on Sunday, March 21st, from 1:00 - 4:00 pm, at Laurel Funeral Home 201 Laurel Ave, Keansburg.
