Joseph A. Oldam

Joseph Allen Oldam Sr., (Joe) age 64, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 15th, 2019 within the comfort of his home in North Brunswick. Joe was born on October 30th, 1954 in Newark, NJ to Frances and Joseph L. Oldam. Joe was a graduate of Cranford High School, class of 1972. Afterwards he worked as an auto mechanic but ultimately become a tractor trailer driver, a job that he retired from several years ago. Joe would marry Caroline Mitchell and together they would have a son and daughter. After being divorced from Caroline, Joe married Kathy Tostanoski and resided in Monmouth Junction. After being divorced from Kathy, he married Renee Dupree. Joe spent most of his life enjoying the company of a close group of friends and of course, his family. Joe was a competitor and national champion in several Road-eo truck driving competitions. He also received an Outstanding Citizen Award from the Cranford Fire Department on November 1st, 1974 for his swift and heroic actions which resulted in him saving the life of a newborn child from a burning home. The parents of the newborn would then name their following child after him. Joe had many special interests and hobbies throughout his life including shooting pool, motorcycles, and really anything having to do with engines. Joe loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and was a member of the Elks and Moose organizations. He was known to be able to buy a clunker and clean it up so well that you were envious of him and wanted to buy it from him. Joe loved having a good time with loved ones while living his life to its fullest. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph L. and Frances Oldam and his brother Robert Deetz and is survived by brothers, Kenneth, wife Brenda and David, wife Jennifer; his son, Joseph, wife Jessica and daughter Jaime, husband Jimmy; grandchildren, Joseph, Joshua, Jared, Jayce, and Vivienne; his niece Sarah; and Renee Dupree. A memorial will be held on Friday, March 22nd, 2019 at Laurel Funeral Home, 201 Laurel Ave., Keansburg, NJ. The family will be there to greet Joe’s friends and family from 6 PM to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations in Joe’s name to the American Cancer Society.
