Julia C Swerzynski

Julia Swerzynski, beloved sister, aunt, great aunt, and friend passed away on June 1, 2023. She was born on May 5, 1945 in Hoboken to Lil and “Hunk” Swerzynski and loved growing up there surrounded by extended family. She moved to Hazlet to live with her sister Carol in 1973 when Carol’s husband Howard passed. Julia spent time there happily working at Citibank. She devoted her life to help care for Carol’s children: Thomas, John, Carolyn, and Donna. Julia loved animals, horses, crafts, and woodworking. She adored the family dog Rusty and her dog Fluffy. She loved a good party or card game, and could often be found having a blast with friends in Atlantic City when she was younger. She road tripped all over the US to places like NYC, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Arizona, Nevada, and Florida. She camped in the Poconos, cruised, and visited the white sand beaches in Aruba. Julia’s love of family and friends was endless. She was at every game, award ceremony, party, concert, and graduation. She never missed an opportunity to dote on her great nieces and nephews. You could count on a card or call from Aunt Julia for every birthday and holiday; she often called on St. Patty’s Day to say “Top of the Morning” and made Christmas decorations for the entire family. Julia’s laugh was deep and contagious and her hugs filled everyone with joy. Her stories were winding, but never lacking in entertainment. Carol and Julia had an open door policy. You could swing by at any time for a hug or conversation; she always had Pepsi in the fridge and snacks on the table. Julia and Carol were true matriarchs of the family, creating a foundation of love and warmth that will live on with their family forever. Julia’s family will miss her more than words could ever say. She is predeceased by her great-nephew, Brian and her sister Carol. She is survived and deeply missed by her four nieces and nephews and their spouses, Thomas and Karen Smith, John and Patrice Smith, Carolyn and Dean Pease, Donna and Bill Bathmann, and by her great nieces and nephews, Thomas and Marykate, John and Brittany, Michael and Carly, and Lindsay and Troy, and by her great-great nieces and nephews, Shane, Connor, Ryan, Logan, Celia, and Beatrice.
