Dorothy Ada Huhn (nee Respass), aka Mema, the tenth daughter and thirteenth child of Emma and John Respass died at home in Clayton. NC on October 13th (10/13/2018) at 10:13pm surrounded by family. She was 85 years old. Dorothy is survived by two sisters, Marrietta Holden and Ruth Hill, her children Arthur Huhn and his wife Karen, Paul Huhn and his wife Julie and Laura Eisenmann and her husband Steve; six grandchildren, Steve Eisenmann Jr and his wife Olga, Paul Huhn Jr and his wife Rebecca, Gennilee and her husband Nathan Jackson, Michael, Erich and Tyler Huhn; two step grandchildren, Brandon Vale and his wife Brittany, and Chelsea Vale; three (3) great grandchildren, Sophia and Zoey Eisenmann; and Carson Jackson; and five (5) step great grandchildren, Lily and Kane Jackson; and Will, Allan and Riley (FROM THE LAND DOWN UNDER). Dorothy is predeceased by her husband Arthur Huhn, Sept. 4, 1996, and 12 siblings, 9 sisters and all 3 brothers, and her son Art’s cell phone, which was miraculously resurrected three days later on Monday Oct. 15, 2018. Dorothy was born on August 9, 1933 in Brooklyn, NY to Emma and John Respass along with ten sisters and three bothers. The family moved around New York several times over the years before settling in Jersey City, NJ. In Jersey City she met Arthur Huhn, the two were married on Dec 17, 1953 and also settled down in Jersey City, NJ. Dorothy and Arthur (Pepa) moved to West Keansburg, NJ in 1955 and raised their family, Arthur Jr, Paul and Laura there. Dorothy worked as a secretary at various companies over the years, she enjoyed a decade of service at the Monmouth County Jail working for the Warden and several years processing mortgages, first at an S&L, we know how that story ended, and finally at the Resolution Trust Corporation. Enjoying, well maybe not really enjoying, a forced retirement, there was a period of time in the 1990s when Mema and Pepa travelled across the US to spend time with family. Wisconsin and North Carolina were popular stops for this daring duo, and my siblings and I are eternally thankful to all the relatives that harbored these fugitives on their escapades. Dorothy relocated to Clayton, NC, a few years after Pepa died in 1996, there she lived with her daughter Laura and her husband Steve, and their children Steve Jr and Gennilee. Clayton became home base for Mema in her twilight years where Laura and Steve tended to her every need, well took really good care of her with the help of Ms Toni. Thanks and God Bless, I don’t know how you did it. Sadly, after rallying to enjoy the first Respass Family Reunion in more than thirty years, Mema caught pneumonia and was hospitalized, she was later transferred to the Brian Center in Clayton where her children enjoyed several visits together. Mema was sent home with Hospice care to be at home with family where she peacefully passed on Saturday. A grave side funeral is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at Shoreland Memorial Gardens in Hazlet, NJ, a luncheon reception will follow at a place to be determined. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dorothy's life.
