James T. Cody, 75, of Hazlet Township passed away suddenly on May 1, 2017. He was born in Passaic, New Jersey on September 2, 1941, raised in Lodi, New Jersey and lived in Ambler, Pennsylvania, and Old Bridge, NJ before settling down in Hazlet Township for the past 40 years. He received his BA in Business Management from Farleigh Dickinson University. He had many careers in his lifetime including twenty years as a store manager for Woolworth’s in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, In addition, he was employed by Siperstein’s Paints and most recently working security at the Monmouth Mall, Eatontown, NJ. Jim was a communicant of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church in Keansburg, New Jersey and an important part of his life. He served as a Eucharistic minister and lector. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and friends at the Bayshore Senior Center. Jim was predeceased by his parents James and Jenny of Lodi, New Jersey. He was always at the side of his loving wife of fifty three years, Mary Jane (Connelly) Cody. He enjoyed spending time with his sons and daughters in-law, Jim and Kerri Cody of Port Monmouth and Mark and Pam of Draper, Utah. His real enjoyment in life was watching his grandsons, Jimmy, Danny, Alex, Brenden and Grayson, participate in sporting events. Every chance he had to see one of their games, he was going to be there. Jim was predeceased by his brother in-law John Monego. He is survived by his brother, Robert Cody and sister in law Doris of New Jersey and his sister Dorothy Monego of California. He was a lovely uncle to his nephews and nieces and their families. Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation on Thursday May 4 from 2 p.m. to 4p.m. and 7p.m. to 9 p.m. at Laurel Funeral Home, 201 Laurel Avenue, Hazlet Township, New Jersey. A 10:15 a.m. mass will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017 at St. Ann’s Church in Keansburg. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bayshore Senior Center in Keansburg in Jim's name.
