Anthony F. D'Amore

Anthony F. D’Amore, Jr., age 68, entered eternal life on Sunday, February 7, 2021. Tony was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. Born on August 13, 1952 in Newark, NJ, he grew up in the Ironbound neighborhood and attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel. His family later moved to Hazlet where he resided for the remainder of his life. He attended St. Ann School, Christian Brothers Academy, Lincroft, NJ and Monmouth College, West Long Branch, NJ. Prior to retirement, Tony was an entrepreneur who was involved in several business ventures including construction and real estate. He was very handy and was able to fix any mechanical problem. He always put others ahead of himself. Tony was devoted father who coached his sons in sports and was a volunteer Boy Scout Assistant Scoutmaster. He was active in his church, St. Benedict, Holmdel, NJ and served on various committees including the Parish Council and as a Eucharistic minister. He began the Cross Country and Track and Field programs at St. Benedict School and coached for several years. He was a founding member of the Christian Brothers Academy Alumni Association and served for many years on its Board of Directors. He had a love of family, the outdoors, camping, running, and his vegetable garden. He was a faithful son who cared for his mother and in-laws throughout their lives. He loved his four grandchildren and always wanted to be with them. Most of all he loved and cherished his wife of 44 years, Karen. Tony was predeceased by his parents, Anthony N. and Mary V. (Romeo). He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years Karen (Slover); two sons, Anthony and his wife Elizabeth; Joshua and his wife Nerrisa; four grandchildren Lauren, Noah, Emilia, and Nathaniel; brother Joseph and his wife Karen; sister Linda and her husband Michael. Visitation will be held at Laurel Funeral Home, 201 Laurel Avenue, Hazlet, NJ, on Monday, February 15, 2021 from 3 pm to 6 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 10am at St. Benedict Church, 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel, NJ.
