George J. Royle

George Joseph Royle (75) was a beloved grandfather, father, husband, brother, uncle and friend. He passed away peacefully on July 28, 2023, at Bayshore Hospital after a long illness. He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Lois Royle and sister Joanne Costa. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Janet Royle; daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Christopher Cizin; son and daughter-in-law Brian and Dominique Royle; brother and sister-in-law Dennis and Maryellen Mullens, sister Barbara Cowger and sister-in-law Carol Ann Vaccaro; grandchildren, Dylan, Isabella, Sadie, Jack, Sabrina, and Victoria as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. George was born in New Brunswick on June 20, 1948, and grew up in Monmouth County, meeting his sweetheart, Janet when he was very young. She was the girl across the street, they married in 1970 and settled in Keansburg where they raised two children in a happy family home. He always wanted his children to have a better life than he did, and he certainly accomplished that. George came from humble beginnings but was a very intelligent man who was an avid reader, attended Brookdale Community College, and was able to work his way up from a technician at New York Telephone to a project manager at AT&T. He served his community as a volunteer member of the Keansburg First Aid Squad and Board of Education. He also coached football for Pop-Warner and was the President of the Keansburg Little League for several years. In his spare time, George had a passion for automobiles, rebuilding engines in his driveway. He enjoyed learning about history and often took his children to visit historical sites and museums. George had a life-long love for the game of baseball. He organized teams with the neighborhood kids until his own son was old enough to play and then he became a baseball coach. He was a devoted Mets fan and enjoyed watching the games. In the summer, George spent a lot of time on his boat. He and his family enjoyed many fun summers cruising out on the bay. In his retirement, George spent his time visiting Florida and at home with his devoted wife Janet who will miss him dearly. Arrangements will be private.
