Margaret L. D'Altilio

Margaret Louise D’Altilio, 60, of Keansburg, New Jersey, passed away at home on May 8, 2025. She was born on July 31, 1964 to the late Kenneth and Elizabeth “Betty” Simpson in Montclair, New Jersey. Maggie, as she was known to all who knew and loved her, attended St. Mary’s High School in South Amboy, New Jersey. She pursued an education to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN), dedicating her career to caring for others with unwavering compassion and selflessness. Maggie’s journey was marked by her love and commitment to her family. She was a proud and devoted wife to her husband John of 38 years, and an even prouder mother and grandmother. To know Maggie was to experience unconditional love—her presence filled every room with warmth and laughter, leaving lasting joy in the hearts of those who knew her. She always kept an open door for those she loved, especially her children’s friends, who affectionately called her “Mama Mags” and “Ma Dukes.” She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially cheering on her grandchildren Michael and Emily at their sports games. Her time spent with her cherished grandson, Maverick, was among her greatest joys. She also enjoyed the intrigue of true crime television, the comfort of a warm cup of coffee, and crafting a home-cooked meal for her small army of a family. Maggie is survived and missed deeply by her husband, John D’Altilio Sr.; son, John D’Altilio Jr. and his wife Melissa; son, William D’Altilio and his wife Nicole; daughter, Christine Fentiman and her husband Bryan; daughter, Ashley Vollmuth and her husband George; grandchildren, Michael and Emily D’Altilio and Maverick D’Altilio; mother-in-law Bella D’Altilio; sister-in-law Christine Luchko and her husband Stephen; her nieces, Elizabeth O’Brien (and her husband Francis) and Nicole Luchko; many cousins and distant loved ones; as well as her pups and grandpups Cali, Lilly, Sadie, Beef, and Reese. Maggie is predeceased by her parents, Kenneth and Betty Simpson; brothers Freddie and Kenneth Simpson; and father-in-law John D’Altilio. A visitation will take place on Friday, May 16 at the Laurel Funeral Home located at 201 Laurel Avenue, West Keansburg, New Jersey from 5 to 7 PM. A repast and celebration of life will follow immediately next door at the West Keansburg Fire Company Banquet Hall.
